and killed two first responders. firefighters in wilmington paying their respects right now for one of the two fallen brothers. in just a few hours ago they learned the deadly fire was intentionally set. nbc 10 delaware bureau reporter tim furlong was the first reporter on the scene early saturday morning. he now joins us live with news of the arrests. >> reporter: it's been a painful week for the firefighting company this weekend. they tell me fires happen, accidents happen, but the person who started that fire behind me, they say she did it because she was angry. >> her son was in the house too. >> reporter: gabby still double know if she can believe that her neighbor beatriz fana-ruiz could have stalled the fire that killed these two firefighters saturday morning. ruiz was living here with her dad at the row house. she told the investigators she

was drunk, on anxiety medicine and angry and she told the police she didn't remember starting the fire. >> people when they're drunk, they do stuff they don't remember. >> reporter: a relative saw ruiz go down in the basement just before they saw flames and smelled smoke. investigators now say she is responsible for their deaths and for the injured firefighters. brad speakman will be in croshere burn center for at least eat month and firefighter artie hope is in rougher shape. and the state fire marshall's office told me a while ago they don't expect anymore arrests in this case. fana-ruiz was arrested this morning. she now being charged on $6 million in cash bail is what she faces. five miles from where i'm now standing, firefighters are at a viewing for firefighter jerry

fickes. >> that viewing started about an hour ago for fickes. he christopher leach's funeral are set for tomorrow. the other firefighters that were injured in the blaze, as tim mentioned, they are improving at this hour. i mean, we didn't see anything, because the lights went out and we just felt a little more than a jolt, like everyone was throne to the other side. >> i don't know how the survivors are lucky to be alive. >> the explosion of concrete dust, electrical wires, i couldn't really tell what was going on. >> here's what we know right now in the new jersey transit crash in hoboken. the train was traveling at a high rate of speed and slammed right into the station. one person died in the slash, the woman was not on the train, but standing on the platform and hit by debris. she was a 34-year-old hoboken

residents. 108 passengers on board were injured the engineer was injured and released from the hospital. he's cooperating with investigators. nbc 10 south jersey reporter cyney long spoke with first responders. >> jim, somehow on this packed commuter train, more than half of the people on board this morning, those passengers managed to miraculously walk away from the hoboken statement, with a mere scrape, bruise or bump, but not witnessing the sheer fear and horror and in the midst of it all running to help instead of running to safety. >> i thought it was an explosion or a bomb or something because that's what it felt like and sounded like. >> reporter: fellow passengers say the train never slowed down, before they could process why, it went through the bumper, the

tracks and consequent airborne through the platform. >> we didn't see anything, lights went out and it was more than a jolt, like everyone was thrown to the other side. >> in the darkness, there was the noise of screens, twisting metal and water gushing. >> this new jersey transit worker, aer police officer and pastor had just stepped apart from the tracks 30 seconds before to grab his coffee. >> somebody said where's the engineer? i said, yeah, i looked around and an officer looked up and you could see him slumped over. >> he came in at the a high rate of speed, went through the bumper block, through the air, took the ceiling out. it was just who rir fick. >> they were trapped so we helped them get out. until the first responders came,

and honestly, they came pretty quickly. i just got a scratch and a bruise, but other weiss oifs okay. >> reporter: now you can see the hoboken station does remain closed but a very active scene out front, this command post, we have heart from the ntsb that it will spend at least the next several days if not a few weeks to investigate this crash. they want to hear from anyone who knows anything about this crash. they want to praise everyone who went toward the horror instead of running away. >> the new jersey transit train did not have the technology to slow down trains that are going too fast. the deadline's been extended. it is now the end of 2018. may remember almost 18 months

glassboro. we begin with sheena. >> yes and i start with stormranger10 in glassboro. we sent it to new jersey to get a close look at the rain moving in, there you see it spinning in gloucester county, and this shows us those yellow shaded areas in more detail. anyway, cedarville, seeing some heavy rain, precip rates close to a inch. this continues near laurel lake as well as other parts of new jersey. up in the philadelphia area, mostly some steadier, lighter rainfall in through portions of northern newcastle county. northern delaware, sussex county had a lot of rain earlier today, that's where we find precip rates anywhere from three-quarters of an inch to an inch and a half. we do have the flood warning for sussex county, an additional two

to four inches of rain could be possible. never drive through flooded roadways, you always want to turn around. we have more rain that's going to moving in from offshore, the rain is going to be in the forecast tonight and tomorrow. so the first ais out for delaware, new jersey and philadelphia. on friday, we expect more heavy rain, we could see some localized flooding moderate coastal flooding is also possible. it is windy and it is chilly. wilmington seeing a 40-mile-per-hour wind gust. the question is how long all this going to last? >> i would say the next several hours is probably going to be the worst in many parts of the area, we have been telling you for days, delaware is the area that's most likely to get hit

hardest. especially in sussex county in delaware, but by 7:00 tonight, things are decreasing in sussex county, but increasing in berks county but you're going to get it this evening, a lot of rain around by later this evening, more moisture of course coming in from the ocean, so it should be raining for tomorrow morning's rush, but not quite as heavy, certainly not in central and southern delaware, the way it was this morning. temperatures, though, it was chilly today, it's going to be chilly tomorrow too. hardly going anywhere. windy, across the area, some places in the 50s, with the wind and rain by morning. we'll see when it's going to improve in a minutes. to decision 2016 right now and the push for pennsylvania. now the libertarians are targeting philadelphia voters. today the vice presidential

cobbs creek. >> reporter: authorities have identified him as christopher solo. officers confronting him and then opening fire. the bullet holes in these row homes are the remnants of a violent night in cobbs creek, at least six philly police officers shot and killed 36-year-old christopher sowell. neighbors identified him in this photo. police say sowell was in the middle of a stabbing rampage when he slashed the throat of his son and son's friend. police say sowell's family believe he was on drugs when he grabbed a knife and snapped. >> the daughter did say that he was home and all of a sudden his eyes are wide as can be and he just starts to choke her for no reason whatsoever.

>> reporter: neighbors say the two young boys would often play on the street here. >> he was just a little kid. >> reporter: after stabbing the two children, police say sowell went four blocks up the street and attacked a 70-year-old woman. police say that's when officers arrived, con fronted him and a a gun in his hand and shot him dead. >> did the officers see a gun when they confronted him out here? >> we believe they did but we have not found one. >> reporter: police say they have not yet found the gun, that evidence on scene, they did however see a knife next to the suspect's body. internal affairs however has opened an investigation as a precaution looking into this officer involved shooting. to our weather now and a sloppy ride home, looking out there at the schuylkill expressway. and bring your umbrella and your rain poncho if you're coming out

here see beyonce tonight. glenn, lots of rain out there. >> lots of hours of rain too, it may rain consistently, constantly through that concert. because we have got this solid area of rain coming in from the ocean, coming up from cape may through the philadelphia year, coming up through the lehigh valley in the poconos. still in delaware, we have sent storm ranger 10 to glassborrow new jersey starting to move into north jersey and philadelphia. right now we're seeing moderate rain, and we can get more precise with the intensity of this, especially within this range, the 30-mile range, that's where we have the most effectiveness. in the last hour, moderate to heavy rain, about a half-inchen hour, and fortunately that will continue to move, but the other thing that's moving is this area

right around sussex county, it is still getting hammered. and the amounts of rain in this area are just incredible. and we actually have some reports in this area of yellow, of over 10 inches of rain. it's actual rainfall measurements, between georgetown and lewis on route 9 in sussex county. four, five, six inches of rain in some parts of southern delaware. not as much as you go farther north, and less than an inch into wilmington. much less as you go into atlantic city and cape may. a coastal front warning, high tide coming in a couple of hours, moderate coastal flooding expected. more delays coming at philly

international, the camera's shaking because it's so windy out there. these are the sustained winds of about 30 miles an hour. we have had gusts over 40 miles an hour and that's going to continue too. here's the future cast showing those waves of heavier rain coming through this evening, more moisture coming in off the atlantic, but during the day tomorrow, it's not quite as steady, not quite as heavy as today, it's still going to be a cloudy, rainy, wet, windy day, but maybe not quite as heavy as today. then on saturday, we still have some showers in the area, and we still have cloudy skies. we have matthew, which is now a hurricane, 75-mile-per-hour winds, moving westward in the caribbean and then it's going to be taking a sharp turn to the north. as a category 2 by tuesday. okay, there's not a real quick movement here, and then we have
